STEEDANDBARNEY'S was a Belgian menswear brand created by Tailleurs Belges in 1996.

Its origins can be traced back to a time when clothes were a byword for overproduction and consumerism. Its creator, Christophe Puystiens, from Brussels, trained at a very young age in men's ready-to-wear retail, mainly in three-piece suits, quickly realised that everything was changing. While suits still had a bright future ahead of them, waistcoats and ties were already beginning to be consigned to the wardrobe.

So there followed a desire to be in tune with this new movement, but not totally. He is developing his need fortimelessness. The jackets will be made from beautiful Italian fabrics in deep blues and strong greys. Then coloured waistcoats for a trendy touch and, above all, a strong focus on casualwear for the last 20 years, with coloured trousers, English knit jumpers and the queen of classics, the white shirt.

Since 2021, StEED. has been working alongside STEEDANDBARNEY'S, gradually replacing it.

By April 2025, the transition will be complete! StEED. has become the brand name of the store at 475 Avenue Louise Brussels.  A new chapter is beginning.  Christophe Puystiens has formed a partnership with artist-curator Isabelle Steemans.  Together, they discover new brands and combine aesthetically related worlds, mainly from Japan, South Korea, Italy and Great Britain and of course Belgium!

Accessories have taken on an important role thanks to their playful and creative contribution.

TIMELINE and its KEY FIGURES

Christophe Puystiens was born in Brussels in 1966. He began his career at the age of 17 with ‘La Maison Parivienne’ and open in 1994 his first concept store "New Orleans" in Uccle. In 1996, he decided to found his own brand and open his own shops.

STEED comes from John Steed in The Avengers, the cult British series where Steed's jackets were so elegant. BARNEY'S comes from Barney's New York, a tribute to Barney Pressman, founder of the famous American shop in 1923.

Since 2025, only StEED. has remained. There was a need for change, to make the brand name more striking without completely losing our historical identity.
